Auckland Airport (AKL)
Travel and Transport
(Auckland, North Island, New Zealand NZ)

Auckland Airport (AKL) offers travellers to New Zealand's North Island an excellent range of airport ground transportation options to suit all passengers' needs.

Serving Auckland and the surrounding suburbs areas on the North Island of New Zealand, travel and transportation services at Auckland Airport (AKL) include airport buses, shuttle buses, car rental and hire, limousines and airport taxis.

Travel by Buses
Regular buses are available at Auckland Airport (AKL) and travel from the airport's Domestic and International Terminal buildings into central Auckland. Airport buses depart every 20 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes in the evening, travelling between 06:20 to 21:00. The buses are operated by Airbus and Maxx, and offer a relatively fast way to travel to nearby Auckland city centre.

Travel by Shuttle Buses
Shuttle buses are available at Auckland Airport (AKL) and provide a particularly useful minibus service between AKL Airport and any address in Auckland city centre. Operated by Johnston's Shuttle Express and Airbus, shuttle buses depart from the airport's main international terminal every 20 minutes, between 06:30 to 20:30, meeting all of AKL Airport's incoming flights.

Travel by Taxi Cabs
Taxis are plentiful at Auckland Airport (AKL) and the airport's taxi ranks are situated to the west of the International Terminal buildings and also outside of AKL Airport's domestic terminal buildings. These taxis are an extremely popular and inexpensive way to travel into the nearby city of Auckland and other surrounding suburban areas of New Zealand's North Island. The journey into central Auckland by taxi lasts approximately 30 minutes, depending upon traffic levels. Official Auckland Airport (AKL) taxi cabs should be used at all times, to ensure safety and also to prevent any overcharging.

Airport taxi meters at Auckland Airport start at a basic fare, although a number of extra taxi charges may be added for ground transport, late-night driving and travel on public holidays in Auckland. Taxis for disabled passengers, or passengers with special requirements, can be arranged at the airport's information desk.

Travel by Limousines
There are a number of private car limousine companies that travel to and from Auckland Airport, providing the ultimate way to arrive at the city of Auckland in luxury. Limousines are operated by Ford Limousines and the journey is surprisingly relatively inexpensive.
